While teaching ENGN's What Makes a Village curriculum we paired with a group of students from Explorations in Drawing and taught a group of students from Delaware Valley Regional High School upon the invitation of teacher Sarah Ruppert. Students, Katelin Saubestre, Kathleen Danaher and Joe Hirsch volunteered to teach and codeveloped a curriculum on creating narratives. Through drawing they introduced their students to a class about managing and expressing social issues they struggle with in life.
The group created over 400 personal drawings and 40 group "monsters" as well as a series of drawings made without hands (you can imagine).
Why were they asked to do these things? To get outside their heads and into their hearts.
